BaSIS - Blind and Sighted Italian Spatial language Corpus

The Blind and Sighted Italian Spatial language corpus (BaSIS corpus) is constituted by the transcriptions of three spatial tasks (bedroom description, urban itinerary, bird-eye city description) submitted to 44 Italian speakers (22 blind and 22 sighted people).

The transcript format used is CHAT, by the CHILDES project. Most of the transcriptions has been enhanced with different layers of annotation, focusing on spatial information. Therefore, BaSIS is not only one of the few annotated corpora of spoken Italian, but it is also the first one that focuses on spatial categories.
